What type of wood is used in making our furniture?

We manufacture our wood furniture in Indonesia and Mexico. All our furniture products are made from solid planks of teak wood, mesquite wood, or alder wood. We have chosen these woods for their durability and deep rich grain. Each item is custom made for CreAsians Designs from kiln dried timber and is hand-crafted by skilled artisians who use old-world techniques.

Because each piece is hand crafted, individual items will vary slightly in overall dimensions, grain, texture, and tone due to the nature of the wood and its hand applied finish. Knots, indentations, hairline cracks and other superficial imperfections are valued for their enhancing visual qualities and should not be considered flawed. These unique markings help to create a signature piece for each owner.

CreAsians Designs also manufactures furniture from other natural products such as rattan, water hyacinth, and bamboo. All these products are dried and treated before they are used in the manufacturing process. Unique tropical designs can be found throughout our collection.

How do I care for my new wooden piece of furniture?

Dust regularly with a clean soft, lint free cloth or use a wood furniture polish such as teak oil to restore moisture to the wood. Avoid polishes with strong chemical compounds and keep water and other moisture away from your wooden piece. Use coasters, placemats or other furniture protectors with heavy usage.

How do I maintain my wrought, forged and cast iron products?

Similar to our wood furniture, our iron products are made by skilled craftsmen in the old-world tradition. We powder coat our items to provide protection against oxidation. Additionally, you can use a primer or other paint products such as a polyacrylic or polyurethane sealant. However, iron will rust outdoors if great care is not taken.

How do I care for my leather products?

CreAsians Designs leather products are all made from top grain, aniline dyed hides. “Top grain” leather is the most durable part of the hide and “aniline dyed” leather is a hide that is colored using a nontoxic aniline dye. Because each hide is unique, all leather will vary in shading. Natural body oils will stain leather slightly, but these stains will blend with the oils of the leather and give each piece a desired patina. Avoid any product that may change the pH balance of your leather, this will cause premature cracking or discoloring. Keep leather a safe distance from any floor or wall heater as they will dry out the leather. Remove dust with a soft clean cloth and clean regularly with a vacuum cleaner.
